Builders capture third place in Glenn Heath Shipbuilders Memorial Tournament
The Apprentice School golf team finished third at the Glenn Heath Shipbuilders Memorial Tournament on Tuesday, April 10 at the Williamsburg Club.
The Builders had a two-day score of 652. Lynchburg College won the title with a 629. Ferrum finished second with a 631. Randolph-Macon was fourth with a 654 and Louisburg College shot a 668.
Scott Obenshain of Ferrrum was the medalist after holding off Lynchburg's Conrad Anguera on the second hole of a playoff.
Ben Hunter led the way for the Builders, checking in with a two-day total of 154. He finished third overall.
Kyle Mutter took fifth as he carded a 155 while Kyle Radcliff tallied a 170 to tie for 23rd.
The Apprentice School had a second team in the tourney as well. The squad finished ninth after shooting a 379 on the second day, six strokes better than its score on the opening day of the tourney.
Curtis Newsome had a 186 to pave the way while Forrest Barefoot shot a 189.
The Builders will wrap up their season at the Roanoke Invitational on Saturday, April 14 and Sunday, April 15 at the Roanoke Country Club.
