Hampton police arrest suspect in fatal Newport News shooting
Hampton Police Division officers arrested a Newport News man considered a suspect in a fatal shooting in Newport News.
According to a Newport News police report, Hampton Police Division officers, acting on an anonymous tip, made a traffic stop and arrested Xan Davon Williams around noon Sunday, July 1.
Williams, 18, of the 300 block of Susan Constant Drive in Newport News, remains in the Newport News City Jail facing charges of first-degree murder, two counts of malicious wounding, carrying a concealed weapon (third offense) and three counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
The shooting victim, Tyrone Frink, 25, of the 5600 block of Fairfax Avenue in Newport News, was pronounced dead at about 12:40 a.m. Friday, June 29 after Newport News police responded to a call of a shooting at 33rd Street and Madison Avenue.
Frink and Williams were reportedly in an argument over a female who was disrespected, Newport News police said. Witnesses told police at least one other person who fired a gun was at the scene. The investigation is ongoing.
