Staples Mill Road seeks volunteers, donations to help with homeless outreach
Staples Mill Road Baptist Church, 10101 Staples Mill Road, is seeking volunteers and donations to help with its homeless community outreach programs.
The church needs a volunteer to take over the homeless clothing ministry program for the next two months, according to the latest church newsletter. Members Ron and Barbara Gillum are taking a break from the program after several years of service.
Volunteers are also needed for outreach events at Monroe Park, 620 W. Main St., Richmond. The church holds service events every fourth Saturday, and a bible study beginning 5:30 p.m. every Tuesday.
Clothing donations are also needed for the homeless. Suggested items include deodorant, socks, underwear, shoes or summer clothing. Donations can be deposited at the large bin near the church hospitality area. Children’s clothing donations are currently not being accepted.
For more information on volunteering or donating, call Janet Bourne at 804-672-0266.
