Newport News-based Riverside Paper Supply earns Environmental Achievement Award

Newport News-based Riverside Paper Supply received an award from its partner Cascades Tissue Group for its environmental efforts.

Cascades Tissue Group reports that, based on sales of Cascades tissue products, the Riverside distributor conserved 479 cars’ emissions and 8, 869 trees in 2011 compared to other virgin fiber products. Those trees would be the equivalent of 22 football fields, according to a press release from Cascades.

Suzanne Blanchet, Cascades Tissue Group CEO, says the Riverside distributor exemplifies the company’s environmental values.

“The support from Riverside Paper Supply is indispensable,” she said in a press release. “By honoring them with an award, we want to recognize their contribution in lowering our environmental footprint and in informing end users on the importance of sustainable development.”

Riverside Paper Supply started distributing Cascades products in 2003. The company serves the Mid-Atlantic region of the U.S., offering food items like service disposables, paper products and industrial packaging.

Cascades Tissue Group is North America’s fourth largest tissue paper maker, according the release.

More information on Riverside’s work will be posted on Cascades Tissue Group’s blog at www.sustain.cascades.com/blog.
