Peninsula Fine Arts Center seeks volunteers for upcoming 50th anniversary exhibit
The Peninsula Fine Arts Center is preparing for a major 50th anniversary art exhibit that will open Sunday, Oct. 21.
Some of the nation's leading art museums and galleries are loaning art to the center, which will celebrate 50 Great American Artists, according to a press release.
Because of the increased attendance expected at the museum for the anniversary exhibit, the PFAC needs volunteers to join its crew of docent guides, as well as gallery monitors to host the exhibits.
"Students, retired teachers, artists and art enthusiasts with time to share and a desire to be surrounded by great art, while contributing to our mission of art education, are encouraged to join the PFAC family," said Becky Fitchett, PFAC administrative assistant, in the release.
The anniversary exhibit will be on display at the center through Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013.
Some of the lending institutions who will contribute art to the collection include the Smithsonian American Art Museum, the National Museum of Women in the Arts, the Navy Art Collection, Orlando Museum of Art, Reading Public Museum, the Chrysler Museum of Art, the Taubman Museum of Art and the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts.
The Peninsula Fine Arts Center is at 101 Museum Drive, Newport News.
