Newport News School Board holding Sept. 28 retreat

The Newport News School Board will hold a retreat Friday, Sept. 28 to discuss the district's strategic planning for the 2012-13 school year.

After opening remarks, the Historical Context portion of the retreat will cover strategic planning in the Newport News Public Schools.

During the data section of the retreat, academic benchmarks will be highlighted.

An overview of the 2012-13 strategic planning projects will be discussed in the plan portion of the day.

Financial planning for fiscal year 2014 will also be done, followed by a board discussion and lunch before adjourning.

The retreat will be held in the auditorium at the administration building, 12465 Warwick Blvd., Newport News.
