Apprentice School football team takes on Southern Virginia in Salem
The Apprentice School football team will be looking to bounce back when it battles Southern Virginia University in a 3 p.m. game Friday, Oct. 5 at Salem Stadium.
The Builders were beaten 44-14 by Bridgewater College on Sept. 29, while Southern Virginia comes in off a 19-16 loss to Virginia University of Lynchburg.
The Apprentice School leads 8-1 in the series against Southern Virginia, and has won two of the last three games, including a 23-21 win last year. The last three games between the two schools have been decided by a total of 10 points.
The Builders (1-4) are averaging 262.4 yards per game, including 161.6 yards per game on the ground. The Apprentice School is averaging 20.2 points per outing and is giving up 26.6 points per outing.
Southern Virginia comes in with a 1-4 record as well. Both teams have lost their last three games.
The Builders will be playing on a Friday for the first time since 1996, when they lost 41-30 to William Paterson of New Jersey.
